We believe walking outdoors has an inherent magic, and we’ve come together to share that joy. The accumulated knowledge from three decades of walking across the globe has been synthesized into this online platform. As a dedicated e-learning experience, we give everyone access to the transformative possibilities walking offers through our courses. Walking, in all its myriad forms, serves as exercise but is so much more: it is a meditative journey, a healing path, and a cultural exploration. By making these practices accessible, we established a community that cultivates lifestyles harmonizing somatic and spiritual integration.

I’m Jose Ferreira, the founder of Dusty Drifters. In the last twenty years, I’ve explored the intersection of art, education, and wellness, carving a unique niche in the entrepreneurial world. While not academic, this website is inspired by my career as a professor and faculty member at institutions in the United States and Europe. The genesis of these courses began at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I introduced an innovative class that left an indelible mark on the curriculum of the Sculpture Department. In 2010, a semester-long class dedicated to the philosophy of walking, integrating theory and practice, quickly gained popularity among students. This website is the online incarnation of those lessons in a very different form. Now based in Hawai'i, I dedicate myself to exploring walking as a profound expression of art. This exploration is philosophical and personal, a way of understanding the world.
